Kookiebikes - Handbuilt Trackbikes

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Not only does Matt at Melbourne based Kookiebikes carry my favourite ‘IZUMU Super Toughness’ 1/8th chain, he also makes beautiful bikes. And his latest piece of work is no exception. Handmade fillet-brazed frame with a mix of Kaisei and Columbus Max tubing. 100% NJS Components.

Figure 8 Track Racing

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Hopefully future events on this piece of equipment will involve backwards figure eights. HumanPoweredRollercoaster.

“The Human Powered Rollercoaster, HPR, is a velodrome with a vastly different twist; an amazing and dynamic figure-eight cycling track built for the new version of urban Alley-Cats racing.

The only true portable velodrome of its kind, the over/under figure-eight wooden track is 180 feet long, 64 feet outside diameter curved sections, 16 feet riding width and 410 feet (125 metres) riding length with 27 degree banking and a 9 feet bridge height.”
