Alchemy Goods – Messenger Bags

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I won’t bore you with my commentary, but nice bags:

This is the original Alchemy Goods messenger bag built with recycled materials lying around the apartment. Of course the model you get is constructed in the workshop, but it retains the unique qualities that made it famous. The Messenger is made using environmentally friendly materials and it definitely stands out in a crowd. But there’s no sacrifice in form for function. Perfect for bike messengers, students or anyone else with a lot of stuff to carry around. You’ll regret buying any other bag.

Note that ‘recycled goods’ means old inner tubes. Nice. At $148usd or $182aud, it seems reasonably priced too. Check out their Messenger Bags.

Tshirts Now For Sale

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Finally the Fixed.org.au tshirts are for sale… It’s taken me since July 2006 to get this together – Better later rather than never though, right? Thanks muchly to Greg at Pomade.tv for the design, I hope you like it:

The tshirts are selling for $21AUD each. If you are in Melbourne, you can pickup (details on where when you order), and if you are interstate or international, please add the postage types to your order. Postage is $4AUD for interstate, and $10 for international orders. You are able to pay via direct deposit or Paypal – If you are ordering international, please use Paypal.

Please remember, these are pre-order tshirts – No orders will be taken after the 29th of March, and we hope to have the tshirts printed within 14 days. You will be kept up to date via email.

All profits from the tshirts will be donated to the Amy Gillett Foundation.

“The Amy Gillett Foundation’s primary objective is to reduce the incidence of injury and death caused by the interaction of cyclists and motorists. In doing so, we hope to promote a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between cyclists and motorists.”

Packing Heat?

An oldie but a goodie…

“Just wondering how many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment? Here in Arizona we can legally carry open and concealed (concealed with permit).

For long distance touring and bicycle camping… I think I’d feel safer carrying my .45 semi-auto pistol (concealed so it doesn’t freak people out).

Anyone else carry while biking?”

From a… Cycling Forums Thread – I don’t know, it sounds crazy, but imagine if it was legal that only cyclists could carry guns? I mean, everybody knows we’re smarter, more aware of what’s going on around us (physically and metaphorically) and would happily police the car population by shooting at wheels when provoked. I’ll be running on this platform for the next election, vote4me!

Handmade bike for N*ke

The Wilson Brothers, a UK group in charge of making beautiful objects for large companies, have whipped up this gorgeous piece of work to be exhibited at the Dover Markets in London. Note the video of the build at the end of this post. I’ll be in London at the end of this month. With any luck the exhibition will have started…
