A Festival of Bicycles on Film

Thursday, March 2nd, 2006

Yes I know, I already posted this in the forum but then I thought it’s better suited to the front page. Besides then I get to see how this thing works.

Celluloid Cycles

Plenty of good bike films here, running from April 6th to April 9th. What a great way to start my well earned three weeks off work.

Highlights (will) include:
A Sunday In Hell - a documentary about the titanic struggle between Eddy Merckx, Freddy Martens, Roger De Vlaeminck & Francisco Moser in the 1976 Paris-Roubaix.

Beauty & The Bicycle - A 20min documentary about Richard Sachs & Peter Weigle. If you don’t know who Richard Sachs is, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Still We Ride - A documentary about the 2004 NYC Critical Mass where overzealous cops arrested riders for no reason, confiscated bikes and generally did bad things.

We Are Traffic - Another CM doco tracing the history of CM

Red Light Go - Another NYC doco about Alleycats

Pedal - Yet another NYC courier doco focussing on the 2005 Cycle Messenger World Champs.

I haven’t seen any of these films before so I’m just anticipating it will be fun. And anything with Eddy in it has to be worth watching. Sucks if you’re not in Melbourne.

Content Is King

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

I used to work for this really annoying company that stated “Content Is King”. I always thought it was such an cheesy phrase. Now I’m uttering it on a bike-related website… I’m really sorry. What gives? I even made up this United Colours of Benetton ad to get your attention to the situation at hand (a piece of marketing genius, I know):

The collective *we* (thats… you.) are an interested bunch, with a lot of different knowledge. What would be nice, is if it were plastered up here for the rest of the world to read about it. In a nutshell, I’m putting a call out for content: If you’ve got a story, a review, an idea, or a howto - the frontpage is a cosy warm place for it to live. It also means you get a bunch of kudos and praise from everybody.

In fact, I think anybody who writes something for the frontpage will get a prize. I don’t know what it is yet, but I promise it will be more than broken locknut. Contact me here!

New site!

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

After faithful service, the old site has been sent to the bit bucket. The new site will allow for easy updates, and for others to easily add content about whats happening in their states etc. In time the photos & forums area will be styled in the new template. I hope you like the new site & please report any display issues.

The old one, for the sake of posterity:
